We kept seeing the same pattern in customer environments, a network that was routing correctly on paper, but sending return traffic through the wrong path because of a firewall or a second gateway,”

SEVILLE, SPAIN, October 1, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- SKUDONET, a European Application Delivery and Security company, today announced the release of Enterprise Edition 10.2.2, the latest version of its Application Delivery Controller (ADC) platform. Its central addition, Last Hop, uses eBPF to dynamically learn how a connection reaches the ADC and uses that information to preserve the appropriate return path, addressing a networking problem known as asymmetric routing.

In network environments with multiple routers, stateful firewalls, VLANs and redundant paths, an ADC can have a technically valid route back to a client that still differs from the path the original connection actually took. When that happens, firewalls maintaining state on the original path may never see the return traffic, potentially leading to dropped sessions, inconsistent NAT behavior and security policies being applied differently across network paths.

Last Hop is designed to prevent that mismatch. Using eBPF within the Linux networking datapath, it identifies the Layer 2 path through which a connection arrived and stores that information. Linux still performs its normal routing decision for the response; SKUDONET's eBPF logic then checks that decision after routing and, when the learned path indicates that the response should leave through a different interface, corrects the output before the packet is sent.

The capability is intended to reduce reliance on manual workarounds such as static routes, Policy-Based Routing, source-specific routing or per-application routing rules, particularly as ADC deployments grow to support more services across multiple networks.

Last Hop can also address environments where a backend server simultaneously acts as a client of another load-balanced Virtual IP, a scenario that becomes increasingly relevant as application architectures grow more interconnected. The addition expands SKUDONET's support for larger and more segmented enterprise ADC deployments, where network state, routing behavior and application traffic increasingly intersect.

“We kept seeing the same pattern in customer environments, a network that was routing correctly on paper, but sending return traffic through the wrong path because of a firewall or a second gateway”, said Emilio Campos, CEO and founder of SKUDONET. “Last Hop addresses that inside the ADC itself, using path information already available from the connection instead of asking customers to redesign their routing around it.”

Enterprise Edition 10.2.2 introduces several additional capabilities for HTTP and HTTP/2 environments. Dynamic redirects can now reuse regular expression capture groups, allowing administrators to handle multiple URL migration scenarios with a single redirect rule. The release also adds configurable backend cookie values, enabling consistent session affinity across different services when compatible cookie configurations are used.

The release also brings a refreshed WebGUI, with updated visual styling for configuration and monitoring tasks.

Additional improvements include CGI concurrency control and systemd integration for WebGUI process management, more detailed error logging when reading client or backend HTTP headers, and internal performance optimizations aimed at improving traffic-processing efficiency.

This latest release also resolves a number of issues affecting HTTP, HTTP/2, L4xNAT and certificate management, including case-insensitive SNI hostname matching in accordance with RFC 6125, improved handling of special characters in redirect URLs, corrected maintenance actions for unavailable backends and automatic WebGUI certificate updates following Let's Encrypt renewals.
